Biographie

Hailing from Longueuil (Qc, Canada), this project started in spring 2004 down in guitarist Frederic Godin's basement with keyboardist Kaiwen Zhang (Mr. K.) and lead guitarist Carl-Anthony Ducharme (CADA). Strongly influenced by Swedish death metal acts such as Dark Tranquillity, At the Gates and In Flames, they tried to create their own vision of melodic death metal. Grabbing also elements from Power metal, black metal and Prog Metal, the first song took form.

After a couple of months, drummer Maxime Plante-Peloquin a.k.a. PP (Ex-New Era Project) joined the ranks and soon after, Profane Anthem was born. It's only the following September that the band found their bassist when Louis Vanier officially joined them.

Their first demo was recorded in Frank Castle Studio in Saint-ALexandre during summer 2006 and contained 3 tracks.

In summer 2007, the band parted with drummer Maxime Plante-Peloquin. David Audet replaced him as the official drummer.

After a few months of practice and two gig with the new drummer, the band was forced on a temporary Hiatus because mr. Audet quit drumming for personal reasons. It was then that Claude Nadeau (castigare) joined Profane Anthem.

During the summer, it was time for David Boivin to leave the growling section empty due to personal reasons. It did not took long before Frederic Godin enlisted the growler of his previous project, Benoit T. Durivage and that is when Profane Anthem was finally ready to rise like a phenix from its own ashes.

During fall 2009, Claude Nadeau decided to depart Profane Anthem in order to concentrate his efforts on his other projet (Castigare), he has been replaced by Dominic Caron.

Now The Band is back for good and will continue to feed all the fans of metal with its own flavor of melodic death.
