A better way forward a vu le jour en août 2007 après avoir longuement recherché un homme louche pour combler un trou béant à la fonction de chanteur. Eh oui, car trois autres membres de la formation préparent le projet depuis plus de trois ans ensemble. Après la dissolution de Lapse of memory, Sébastien Hélie quitta la fonction de chanteur pour revenir à son premier amour, le drum. Alexandre Laquerre et Mathieu Forcier gardèrent leurs guitares pour donner place à un projet totalement différent, avec un son beaucoup plus soft. Plusieurs jams passèrent dans des sous-sols, prêtés généreusement par les familles des membres. Plusieurs pièces furent composées, plusieurs furent abandonnées et quelques unes furent retravaillées en leur ajoutant un côté beaucoup plus énergiques ainsi que des riffs plus rythmés et beaucoup plus punchés. Un bon soir, nous sommes tombés sur Jean-François Carbonneau, un homme macabre et dénué de tout bon sens avec des défauts totalement irritants, qui cependant sait très bien se servir d'une basse. Il joint le groupe en 2005, année très significative pour trouver la sonorité exacte du projet. Les pièces prennent alors tout leur sens et plusieurs nouvelles compositions voient le jour. Ensuite, tout en continuant à composer, les quatre membres se mettent tranquillement à la recherche d'un chanteur. Plusieurs essais non-concluants furent faits en 2006 et 2007. Le temps passe jusqu'au jour où Mathieu fait la connaissance du parfait homme louche: MICH. Cet adepte du tatouage et de la sodomie en groupe qui se proclamait chanteur manifesta le désir de venir faire des tests à la voix en août 2007. Il fit rugir sa voix unique et les quatre membres du (no-name band) ont adoré presque sur-le-champs. Il ne lui suffit que de quelques pratiques pour vraiment comprendre comment placer cette voix particulière sur du son beaucoup plus hard que ce qu'il chantait avant. Sébas, Alex, Math et Carbo avaient déjà enregistré six pièces auxquelles il ne reste qu'à ajouter la voix de l'homme louche et les back vocals de Sébas et Carbo pour sortir notre premier démo. En octobre 2007, le nom A better way forward fut trouvé et le groupe prit officiellement place. On se revoit sur scène en 2008.

A Better Way Forward was born in August of 2007 after a long and hard search to find a weard man to take the vacant place of singer. Hell yeah, cause three other members of the band where working on that project since 3 years. After the dissolution of Lapse Of Memory , Seb left the place of singer to get behind his drumm. Alex and Matt keep playin' their guitars to find a brand new softer sound. Lots of jamms passed in differents basements of our family. Some songs where wrote, some where left behind and some where worked to add lots of energy. One night we met Carbo, a fucked up guy with lots of defects but a really good bass player. He joined the band in 2005, a really significative year for the band to find his exact sound. All the songs are taking their places and lots of other songs where wrote. Still working on their songs the guys of the band makes unsuccesful try to find a singer till the day Matt met the perfect weard man, Mike. This tatooed guy that likes group sodomy says he want to try to sing for the project in August of 2007. When the 4 members of (the no name band) heard his voice they like it. It took him only a few practice to find how to place his voice on an music harder that what he was doing before. At that time Seb, Alex, Matt and Carbo had already recorded 6 songs that where only needed some voice to put on it. After some short test, it was clear that Seb and Carbo will be on the back vocals. In october of 2007, the name A Better Way Forward was found and the band officially take place. See ya on the stage in 2008.
