Quel effet ça fait d'être groupe du mois de Quebec Punk Scene ?

Et bien, c'est un honneur pour nous! Nous sommes bien heureux que ca arrive. Comme nous sortons notre EP en janvier, c'est un bon moyen de faire passer le message. En plus, plusieurs personnes vont decouvrir notre band : ce qui n'est pas mal dutout.

Depuis quand The Opposite existe et qu'avez-vous réalisé jusqu`à maintenant ?

Tout a commencé à l'été de 2001. Dans notre ville natale Sainte-Marie de Beauce! La formation du groupe s'est fait à la suite du regroupement de 2 groupes locals à l'époque (feu- Jaco's Nuggets & feu- No Fork Lifts). On a commencé en jammant des covers et nous avons composé nos premières chansons à l'automne dont 5 d'entre elles se retrouvent sur notre démo 2002. Nous venons d'enregistrer notre Debut EP, qui sort indépendant. Nous sommes très exités à l'idée d'aller jouer partout au Québec pour celui-ci, nous en sommes fiers.

Vous venez de lancer votre premier EP, planifiez-vous de faire une tournée de promotion pour ce disque ?

Oui bien sûr! Nous allons faire le tour du Québec les fins de semaine de janvier et février 2004 avec nos bons amis Pressure et Each On Set. Keep in touch pour les dates... Ça va être une belle partie de plaisir : beaucoup de fun et un gros party en vue.

Comment s'est déroulée l'expérience studio pour l'enregistrement du EP ?

Enrichissant. Le studio s'est déroulé pendant les 3 premières semaines de mai 2003 au New Rock Studios à Québec. En plus d'apprendre beaucoup, on s'est bien amusés. On a eu la chance de travailler avec Fred Talbot qu'on remercie encore. Le EP aura 7 chansons et on a l'intention de faire beaucoup de route pour le promouvoir.

Pour quelqu'un qui ne connait pas The Opposite, comment décrivez-vous votre style de musique ?

À vous d'écouter et de juger!

Quelles sont les attente du groupe face à un concert ?

C'est un aspect très important du groupe. Nous nous amusons sûrement plus que tous ceux qui nous regarde live : on joue et on se saoule!

L'état de la scène dans votre région et au Québec en général vous satisfait-elle ?

Sainte-Marie de Beauce est devenue la capitale du Floor Show, autant pour les shows Hardcore que les shows Punk-Rock. Depuis les 3 dernières années, beaucoup de groupes sont venus jouer dans notre patelin. Une nouvelle salle de spectacle va même ouvrir dans le centre-ville d'ici peu, donc beaucoup d'actions à venir ! On adore jouer dans notre ville natale. Sainte-Marie a vu quelque bands se former aucours des dernières années... Heavyness Of Raining Days (r.i.p) & Burial Faith (r.i.p).

Quels sont vos idoles ?

Hot Water Music & The Get Up Kids... et plusieurs autres. Lorsque nous étions plus jeunes, nous avons tous grandis dans un milieu punkrock où MxPx, TheAtaris ,Nofx & Millencolin jouaient à tue-têtes dans nos radios. L'energie du punkrock nous fascine tous.

De tous les groupes de la province de Québec, lesquels admirez-vous le plus ?

Oversight et GFK pour leurs tournées européennes, ils ont amenez beaucoup à la scène au Québec. Fifth Hour Hero, pour leur acharnement, leurs tournées au U.S.A, d'avoir passé les dernières vacances de Noël en Europe et de signer avec No Idea Records. Bravo!
